Health and Safety Coordinator

Job description
Reporting to the President, your responsibilities include promoting and raising awareness about safety and accident prevention, overseeing and administering safety program and monitoring project compliance with safety. The incumbent will work with operational management and external clients to ensure that the safety program is maintained.
Functions & Duties
• Participate in the development and implementation of health and safety strategies, training programs, procedures and tools;
• Actively participate in the development of an OSH culture and promote the development of safe attitudes and behaviors;
• Assist, challenge, grow managers in activities related to OHS;
• Investigate and analyze incidents and / or accidents, inspections and audits, and complete related documentation;
• Interpret health and safety laws and make recommendations to ensure compliance and due diligence on the part of all employees and on-site personnel;
• Keep statistics and records up to date (training, accident / incident, security breaches);
• Assist in the planning and start-up of new security projects;
• Regularly monitor compliance with the safety rules of workers and subcontractors;
• Conduct site inspections and take corrective action where necessary;
• Organize safety field meetings and awareness of health and safety information;
• Assist in the administration, documentation and management of the company's COR program;
Requirements and qualifications

Criminal check
Health and safety training.
Have the designation of Construction Safety Officer (CHSO or NCSO) (or in the process of obtaining this certification).
5 years of relevant work experience, ideally in construction or industrial environments.
Any combination of training and experience deemed relevant will be considered.
Have a good working knowledge of Ontario laws, OHSA policies, regulations and industry standards, as they apply to the construction industry.
Be eligible for security screening and have a valid driver's license; Class G.
Proficiency with the Office suite (Word, Excel and Powerpoint). EXCEL important.
Excellent French and English skills (oral and written).
Ability to plan, organize, direct and control with stringency, continuity and cohesion.
Proactive attitude, and ability to find and implement new solutions.
Autonomy, sense of initiative and ability to effectively manage priorities.
Ability for teamwork and a strong sense of leadership.
